Masculinity: protective factor for gelotophobia

Anna Radomska and Joanna Tomczak (Warsaw) analysed the relationships between gelotophobia and self-representation styles as well as psychological gender. The scientists published their results in "Psychological Test and Assessment Modeling" (formerly Psychologische Beiträge/Psychology Science Quarterly).

"Gelotophobes use primarily self-depreciation self-presentation styles and tend to display a higher number of such strategies in total. Furthermore, they do not use self-promoting self-presentation. Additionally, there is a negative relation to masculine psychological gender. Those with a feminine psychological gender score higher in gelotophobia than those with masculine, androgynous or undifferentiated gender."
